"Water Talks" Series was started by Asok Kumar on 22 March 2019, World Water day,  as a lecture series on every second Friday of the month. In the first year it was held as a physical event in New Delhi, mostly at the Dr Ambedkar International Center, with about 200-300 water enthusiasts attending it. During the Covid-19 pandemic lock down period, it was continued as webinars on digital platform. Experts, Academicians, Activists, Practitioners - all were invited to share their experiences in water conservation.

Throughout the career, though no formal post of Department of Education was held by him, Asok Kumar had been keenly associated with education and training....

Whether it is starting 119 English Medium BCW English Medium Residential schools on a single day on 12 June, 2017, after admitting 28560 fresh students and  provinding them all necessary quality infrastructure, books etc; appointing teachers and staff etc to ensure quality education for which he was given the Telangana Excellence Award in 2018; or

This is an incredible success story of a movement against Child labor in the highly child labor prone district of Nizamabad, Telangana. Sustained even after 2 decades, this is testimony of the axiom that social issues can only be successfully and sustainably addressed if it is made into People’s movement.

On 12 June 2017, as Principal Secretary BCW dept, Telangana, started 119 ( 56 for Boys and 63 for girls) English Medium BC Welfare Residential schools @ 1 per assembly constituency admitting 30,000 students to classes 5,6,7. It was an Herculean task, (but well accomplished) to find required infrastructure and manpower to start them going in just 124 days.
