A remarkable transformation of Kadapa district brought about by Asok Kumar  as Collector Kadapa, under the guidance of Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 2005-06. Even the spelling of CUDDAPAH was changed to KADAPA to give the district a new branding. It was the SAME set of officials- Municipal Commissioner, Engineers, Deputy Executive Engineers,  sanitary workers, Police Officials etc and the SAME set of Political executives- Mayor, MLAs, ZP Chairman, Ward members, Councillors etc. Only the leadership changed. the new Collector could bring them all together to create the magic, with the blessings of the Chief Minster, who was very keen on the transformation. The transformations were so spectacular and quick that many visiting the city with a gap of few months lot their way, not able to recognize the roads properly! The greatest reward, other than the deep appreciation and love of the people of Kadapa till date, was the magnanimous gesture of large hearted Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy, the then CM of AP to name a village in his own Assembly constituency, Pulivendula as "ASOK NAGAR" for the services rendered by Asok Kumar as Collector to his district!
